I've been running the Sidi Crossfires for ever and really like them in the TA model. It's time for a new set of boots and naturally I'm thinking about the crossfire 3's.

Before Sidi I used to run the Gaerne SG 10's and thought they were great until I got the sidi's, I've never tried the SG12's and would like to hear from anyone who has used both the Crossfires TA's (not the SRS) and the Gaerne SG12's for a real world comparison.

I currently have both SG12 and Crossfire 2 SRS. I don't think there is any real difference in the TA and SRS except the obvious, sole replacement feature. I think fit and sizing are the same. Gaernes continue to be roomier in the toe area and I think they are more comfortable. That said, I have have skinny feet and have to add insoles in my Gaernes where with Sidi's I do not.

I find the Gaernes easier to buckle also

Regarding the Sidi's, I found the SRS to be noticeable skinnier than the TA's and I also have the cheaper Gaerne G-React which a WAY wide. Have never tried the more expensive SG10 or 12. Love the Sidi Crossfire TA.

I have loved the Crossfire 2 TA's for years, but my problem is I always tear off the metal toe guard and the then the front of the soles starts to peel back and flap around... From my reading it seems like the new Crossfire 3 SRS sole is different in that only the mid sole is replaceable. I've seen reviews of the older CF2 SRS's where dirt gets in the front of the replaceable part and starts to peel it back. I don't know if the new design now alleviates this. As far as width I'm also reading that the CF3's are now wider in the toe box than previous models?

I can pick up the answer branded SG12's for about the same cost as CF3 SRS also.
