I have the weirdest thing happen to me every time I go on a LONG ride or run a hairscramble... Whenever I ride hard and get all beat down, exhausted and sore....that night I end up sweating all night long wherever my aching muscles touch the sheets. I wake up 2-3 times a night and notice that my sheets and pillow are covered with sweat..."no, i don't still wet the bed...me big boy, and go pee-pee in the potty" But I didn't know if it was my body rapidly repairing the muscle tissue and generating a lot of heat or what... I have a fast metabolism, but damn, I haven't ran across anybody who is affected by riding like this. anybody know what the H is going on? Anybody else ever experience this? My wife says that I need to go to the doc and get checked out, but I think it's my bodys natural way of dealing with what i just put it through that day.

It could be your body winding down, making repairs, but I would listen to the Wifey and go see Doctor FeelGood

I don't know about the feel good part, but they told me to come in for a full physical "cough..cough" and blood work and crap like that. That should prove to be a good time...

never hurts to know what's going on inside you. If your engine was making funny noises you would tear it apart till you knew what was going on. We have the luxury of knowing that most of the time our body's fix themselves but you are always better off safe than sorry. Even if there's nothing wrong with you, it's worth your time to hear that from the doctor. Then you can get on with the real meaning of life....riding!

So what was the scoop? Can't say I have the same problem but find it interesting anyway. My wife sleeps with the kids the night after a race. Seems I keep dreaming of crashing and trying to jump back on the bike - but its her. :D

Actually, I do jump around alot after a race when sleeping. Often recall seeing sections of the event while dreaming. Pay $5 bucks and ride the course twice - sweet!

More than likely you are not taking in enough complex carbohydrates and protein after your hard rides/races. I could go on and on about the topic, but long story short try to eat within 30 minutes of finishing at a 3:1 ratio of complex carbs to protein. A good antioxidant wont hurt either.

I know this thread is old, but I'd like to know too. Three different times I have had extreme chills (during summer months), after a ride, to the point I have to wrap up real tight in a down comforter and sleep for about eight plus hours. Each time this happened after grueling (for me) rides. If I had to guess, I'd say my body was going into shock, like after someone has had major trauma in a car accident.

Other times I have had a rough time sleeping because my muscles hurt so bad, but I didn't notice anything unusual like sweat.

This will happen to me when i do not stretch and do a cool down after. Also i try to clear my head and not have it on my mind when i go to bed...my wife noticed me riding my bike in my sleep and my muscles were knotted up super tight as i thrashed around.
