I saw some stuff on the web reporting that David Knight is signing with BMW to back to the WEC for 2009. Supposed to be a done deal and they will make it offical shortly. Anybody else heard that ?

Rumor goes that David Knight will ride a BMW 450 in next years WEC. David Knight has stated before that will not return to the GNCC series in 2009 and now we heard from a reliable source that it close to be a done deal that David Knight will be BMW’s next top rider. The spot that Knight leaves at the KTM GNCC team will probably be taken by an unknown European rider.

What I read was that the open spot on the GNCC team will be filled by a rider already here. ???

Is Taddy still racing for KTM?

I figured the BMW thing was true, because they seem very serious about this offroad bike biz and they have the money to make about anything they want happen. And Knight's record has him looking like he may be the best all around offroad rider in the world and possible the best known.

Yeah BMW is so serious they left their would be team this year to ride Husquvarna's great call and next year they are dropping Glenn Kearney from the sound of it. I think Glenn deserves a factory ride. The guy has been so close and I hate to say it but those Husy 4 strokes are no where near KTM and the Japanese 4 strokes for GNCC type racing. Knight had better pay attention or he will be leaving the states without an 08 Championship and the BMW is not as proven as his KTM and Knight seems to be hard on bikes so a new brittle BMW does not seem to wise.

Yamaha m1 was also not proven and brittle when Rossi left the mighty Honda.2nd place at Erzberg is not the position a brittle or unproven bike would end up.Joel Smets has been thrashing this bike for over a year.Lets go back 10 years did anyone think KTM could take on the big jap 4???

What makes you think the BMW is brittle?

Didn't it just get 2nd overall at the 2008 Erzberg Rodeo the worlds toughest cross country race...

There is no way he's better than Juha Salminen. Juha flat out dominated here, Knight has been beat at his best. Knighter will fly on the Bimmer though, with his size he'll throw it around like a 125.

Well it should be an interesting match-up and I guess the question will finally be put to rest next year.

And yes, I personally believe Juha is both a faster and smarter rider.

It will be sooner than next year,it will be next month when Knighter is set to do a one off ride in the Welsh round of the WEC.

The handful of people I've talked to and have told me Knight isn't as hard on bikes as you'd expect a guy his size and speed to be. His style is pretty trials oriented and he never seems to be revving hard... I'd bet the most abused parts of his bike are tires and grips.

No... they just get home sick!

Two or three years in America is enough for most of them.

The GNCCS are WAY more technical than the WECs.
The only technical spots are the extreme test which is usually like a trials obastacle.
    So, 1/2 grasstrack/motocross 1/4 trials and 1/4 forest road
